This is a must see for everyone! The detail and emotion built into this memorial is just amazing.
The Peaks of Otter are three mountains that are side by side that you can hike up and see the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is also a lot of history including stone from the Peaks being part of the Washington Monument.
Bridgewater Plaza is where the 'action' is at SML. While the lake and surrounding area is very much small town/country living, Bridgewater Plaza is where the nightlife exists with live music on weekends, an arcade, multiple restaurants, shops, and miniature golf. You can also rent a boat at the marina so you can enjoy touring the lake!
Thomas Jefferson had a home just a little bit away from SML at Poplar Forest and you can tour his home away from home!
A day in the countryside at a winery is one of the activities the Bride's parents enjoy. Hickory Hills Winery is one of the locations at the lake where one can enjoy a tasting of locally grown and bottled wines.
The Skyline Drive is a nice day drive to enjoy many turn-offs and trails to look over the Mountains and Valleys of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In October, this is a beautifully colored drive with all the many shades of leaves blanketing the landscape.
The Natural Bridge is a beautiful walk to a waterfall with interesting rock formations along with a dual ticket to the Caverns at Natural bridge! This is about an hour and 15 minutes away from Mariners Landing but well worth it. Ask Scott for pictures from our trip!
