On an obnoxiously beautiful October day in downtown Knoxville, we met while celebrating the love of those closest to us. My (Paul Bradley) brother married my (Andrew) college friend and we instantly connected, finding excuses to be close to one another all weekend, while also being the very best, supportive wedding guests. However, as dramatic as any good romcom, we were separated by distance - Paul Bradley living in Washington D.C. and Andrew living in Chicago. But 700 miles just meant hours of Facetime calls and hundreds of text messages. Over the months, we chatted about all the serious and completely non-serious things that came to our minds. Eventually, we made plans to spend time together in Chicago. What followed were trips back and forth - shopping at farmers' markets, brewery visits, museum wanderings, so many rummy games, and the always important friend and family meetings. In the summer of 2019, I (the very educated one, Andrew) graduated from grad school and started a Fulbright in Mexico City. We continued to visit one another until we (and the entire world) were forced to make unexpected, big decisions in Spring 2020. It was either spend more time living apart or make the leap and live together in Knoxville. We had been dating just over a year at that point, but we went for it and never looked back! In May 2021, we moved back to Chicago and have built an incredible life together. We have a great community of friends and are so happy to call our city home! Because our love is obviously the stuff dreams are made of, Paul Bradley snuck away during our annual trip to Mexico to pick out rings. While in the Bosque de Chapultepec in Mexico City, I (Paul Bradley) charged forward with my proposal plan, which included paddle boating on the lake (naturally). Love was declared. A question was asked. And yeses were happily given. Swiftly followed by celebratory tequila with friends. We are so honored that you will be joining us to celebrate in the city where it all happened. Mexico City is one of our favorite places in the world, and we hope you come to appreciate it as much as we do! (Not so ghost written by Lara Carvin)
