It was the winter of 2018/2019 and Paul and Becky had both recently moved to Bend, Oregon for different reasons. Paul had been living in Chicago and took a "short term" job out in Bend, because it seemed like a fun place to be for a little while. Becky had been working on a farm in southern Oregon and was looking for a place by a ski mountain to spend the winter-off season. They both ended up becoming snowboard instructors at Mt. Bachelor and met one morning at line up. Everyone was eager to meet eachother, as we all were new to Bend and Mt. Bachelor. Paul had suggested we all get together and hang out for New Years, so we all exchanged numbers. That first night they really hit it off, and pretty much started hanging out every day since then. (Paul even asked Becky to be his girlfriend the first night they hung out, and she somehow was not freaked out by this) I wouldn't call it love at first sight, but it didn't take long for their love to grow. Days turned into weeks, which turned into months of snowboarding and adventuring around Oregon and other places in the Northwest and around the world! Fast forward almost 5 years later... They now own a house in Redmond, Oregon, are parents to two kitties, run an air bnb together, and continue to spend their winters snowboarding and traveling all around the US and the world!
It was one of the first really warm days of the Spring and Paul suggested to Becky that they take a day off from working on house projects... so they went to one of the near by resevoirs to take the kayaks out for the first time that year. They paddled all the way across the lake to a nice beach/meadow area they had to themselves. The day was full of sunshine, swimming, our favorite music and a picnic on the shore. When they got out of the water to grab their towels, Becky turned around and Paul was down on one knee. She very excitingly made him get up to hug her and the rest of the day was full of smiles, tears and celebration!
