Flight
Houston has two major airports: George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) – The main airport, located on the north end of the city. William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) – A smaller airport on the south side of the city. Tip: If you’re staying up north (The Woodlands), fly into IAH. However, if you are planning on staying within the heart of the city (River Oaks, Post Oak, Memorial), both airports are about the same distance.
Rental Car
Houston is not a walking city, and public transportation is limited. If you plan on exploring the city, or surrounding areas, a rental car would be the best option. However, rideshare options are available throughout the city.
Travel Note
Here are a few areas we recommend, depending on the experience you’re looking for: The Woodlands (North Houston)– A peaceful, scenic area north of Houston with great shopping, restaurants, and walkable spaces. River Oaks / Post Oak (Inner City)– Perfect for those who want a lively experience with upscale shopping, luxury dining, nightlife, and centrally located for exploring. City Center / Memorial City Area (West Houston) – This area offers a great mix of dining, shopping, and entertainment in a more relaxed setting than the inner city.
