Shenandoah National Park is a land bursting with cascading waterfalls, spectacular vistas, fields of wildflowers, and quiet wooded hollows. There are numerous hikes and amazing look outs throughout the whole park. The closest entrance to Luray, VA is the Thornton Gap Entrance Station.
This small farm winery is nestled on the western slope of the Blue Ridge mountains with beautiful views and friendly people. It is a family-run business - all of the wine is made from the grapes grown on the property. There is also a small flock of natural-colored Romney sheep as well as free-roaming chickens for your viewing pleasure while picnicking and enjoying your wine!
Luray Hawksbill Greenway is a designated Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail and Bird Sanctuary, follows Hawksbill Creek along a two mile paved walking and biking loop with convenient entry and footbridge locations off Luray’s Main Street.
The Shenandoah Heritage Village, situated in on the grounds of Luray Caverns allows you to explore the rich history of Shenandoah Valley and its neighboring communities. This 7-acre village comprises restored historic buildings, preserved cottage-style gardens, and even a small vineyard to recreate this town's 18th- and 19th-century life. Each historic building is open to the public and houses various preserved artifacts, such as farming tools and furniture.
