Will took Paige on the Kylie's Chance boat tour during her first trip to Maine. During the 1.5 hour trip, you'll enjoy fabulous views of the Maine Coast and Walker’s Point (the Bush family’s oceanfront estate), learning about lobsters while kids (or kids at heart) enjoy pulling up a lobster trap, and hearing the lore of the Kennebunkport coastline. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children, and free under age 3.
Dock square is quintessential New England charm! Enjoy strolling the streets and stopping in the various shops to pick up a souvenir from our wedding weekend. We recommend stopping at Allison's for a casual meal, the spirit of Massachusetts for a cocktail, or Batson River Brewing for a beer!
If you've always wanted to take your picture with the iconic giant bean boot at L.L Bean, now is your chance. Freeport is about a 40 minute drive north of Kennebunkport, but the L.L. Bean boot is surrounded by outlet shopping if you want to make a day trip out of it! Make sure to tag us in your bean boot photos #paigeingmrscadigan
This is one of Will and Paige's favorite walks in the Kennebunkport area and its a Cadigan family tradition to head out for a brisk Timber Island walk at the holidays. In September, it will be a much warmer stroll and you'll be able to wander through the woods to an abandoned historic house perched on the ocean.
You can't come to Maine without stopping to see an iconic Maine lighthouse, and the Portland Headlight is the state's oldest light house. If you fly into Portland, the Portland Headlight is an easy photo-op stop on your drive to Kennebunkport. The lighthouse is located within Fort Williams Park, and if you have additional time exploring the batteries is a fun addition to viewing the lighthouse.
The biggest city in Maine with just under 70,000 inhabitants, Portland, offers a mix of hipster flair and old port city charm. If you want more of a city experience, Portland is an easy 30 minute drive north of Kennebunkport. If you choose to spend a day here, we recommend taking a stroll through the old port, checking out the Portland Museum of Art, and grabbing a beer at the Allagash Brewing Company.
Kennebunkport's population grows ten-fold in the summer with an influx of people coming to enjoy the charm and the beaches. Our wedding is at the end of peak season, but the beaches are worth a stop even if just for a morning stroll. Our personal favorite is Goose Rocks Beach, and if you stop into Goose Rocks Beach General Store, make sure to look for the pictures of Will behind the counter. If there is a strong breeze, the beach can get a bit chilly in September. Bring a shawl just in case! Other great beaches to check out include Kennebunk Beach, Fortunes Rocks, and Parsons Beach.
