When should I RSVP by?

Because Alaska is a popular summer destination, we also recommend booking your flights, transportation, excursions, and lodging as early as possible!"

What should I wear?

Answer

Think "Mountain Chic!" The ceremony will take place on a rock pebble beach. We recommend dressy attire paired with sensible footwear - think boots or block heels. A warm jacket or shawl is a must for the evening! We have umbrellas for all guests at the ceremony, if needed. Kenai Fjords National Park, is a temperate rainforest and weather is unpredictable, so bring warm layers and a warm jacket – rain jacket, rain pants and waterproof boots for your excursions. Weather is moderate to cool, with highs upper 50s to mid-60s Fahrenheit and nights dropping into the mid-40s. When does the sun go down?

Answer

In late August, we still enjoy long Alaskan days! The sun sets around 9:30 PM, but we’ll have light in the sky until nearly 11:00 PM. We highly recommend bringing an eye mask to help you sleep. Sunrise is at 6:30 AM.

Is there a group excursion for all guests?

Answer

MONDAY, AUGUST 24 KENAI FJORDS CRUISE 12:30 PM – Major Marine Tours – 4 hour Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise $149/person. To make sure our whole party is seated together on the boat, please enter Order #217318 in the 'Remarks' section when you check out online. We recommend booking your tickets through Major Marine Tours as soon as possible, as these trips fill up quickly in the summer! We also recommend bringing your preferred seasickness prevention or ginger chews to ensure you can fully enjoy the wildlife and whales!

How should I handle wildlife(bear/moose)?

Answer

While we hope to see wildlife from a distance, please remember to stay 'Bear Aware.' Keep food stored properly and give moose plenty of space! Black bears are seen frequently on the Harding Icefield trail. When on a trail, bring bear spray, make noise, do not run, and go in a group. Bear spray can be rented at the Seward Outdoor Store.
