Scott and I are planning to live stream our ceremony via Facebook live. Both our Facebook profiles should be streaming it (in case something goes wrong with one we have a backup!). Watch live at 4:30 PST or watch later, it should be saved to our profiles.
Sadly with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we've had to scale back our wedding to about 60 guests (we wanted to invite around 175). We're hoping to have a virtual toast with everyone so stay tuned for details. Also we'd like to have a huge anniversary bash sometime next year, details to be determined. If you did receive an invitation to attend physically please do not feel obligated to attend the wedding in person. We understand the added stress that traveling and group situations can have and will not be offended if you choose not to come. The ceremony will be outdoors with lots of sanitizer and reminders to stay distant from those you would not normally be exposed to. Obviously if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 (coughing, shortness of breath, fever, loss of taste or smell) please DO NOT ATTEND
Scott was on his way home from Costco and Amanda was on her way home from a graduation party-- they both decided to stop off at the local taphouse to grab a beer and catch the NBA finals game that was on TV. Scott sat at a table while Amanda was up at the bar. When he came up to get another beer and was standing there trying to decide, she asked "Well what have you been drinking?" to try and help him (and start a conversation). The bar around Amanda had cleared out by this time so Scott sat up near her and they continued talking for the entire second half of the game. At one point while Scott was in the bathroom the bartender told Amanda "This guy seems super cool" and she responded "Don't worry, I'm not leaving here without his number". As soon as Scott returned to his seat he asked for her number like he was reading her mind. Two days later he called (yes, not texted but called) to set up the first date and the rest is history.
We headed towards Hood River that Saturday late afternoon in the pouring rain to go have dinner and pick up wine. As we were driving Scott suddenly took the left exit to Multnomah Falls. He said that he had to go to the bathroom and suggested we get a selfie with the falls in the background for our yearly photo calendar. Since it was dark out and still pouring down rain Amanda flat out refused to get out of the car. Scott took one look at her face and knew he had to go to plan B for his proposal idea-- finding a nice place in Hood River. We went to Pfriem brewery for a delicious meal then headed to the winery. After parking the car we walked by a hotel completely covered with Christmas lights and Scott stopped her on the corner. Amanda: I remember him saying a lot of really nice things, then I had the thought this might be a proposal. I then focused on not reacting like it was a proposal until I was sure it was-- he finally said "I have a question for you" while reaching into his pocket and bending to one knee. The second he hit is knee I said "F**k yes--wait, I'll let you ask" and then a big "Yes!! Of course!!" Scott: I stopped her on the corner about to propose and she ran back to the car to get bags to return to the winery. I stood there thinking of all the things I was going to say and what to do with all the bags in her hand. After way overthinking the entire day plus the stress of not being able to get her out of the car at the falls I decided I’d just throw the bags on the ground. I’m proposing now no matter what. Luckily she forgot the bags and came back to me on the corner and I was able to get down on one knee and finally get my proposal out there.
