She Said- You know that country song line "it all started with a beer"? Well that's how it started for us, on a beer tour in Heidelberg, Germany. Tal and I were both in the same online MBA international business class, and part of the class included 10 days abroad in Europe. I missed the first half of day 1 due to a missed train connection, so met up with the group later that day at a local brewery for the welcome event...where Tal thought I was a waitress and tried to order a beer from me. He Said- After the trip, we continued messaging each other and eventually exchanged numbers. Not too long after, Rachael asked if I wanted to meet up with her and some friends at a Brewer's baseball game. Once I got there, her friends were talking about some Brat festival in Sheboygan that was taking place the next day and I found myself agreeing to come to that as well. Not only did I attend the infamous Sheboygan Brat Days, but I got 8th place in the Annual Brat Eating Contest (10 brats in 10 minutes... impressive, huh?!) A few weekends after that, Rach asked me if I wanted to jump out of a plane with her... and it was then that I knew I was in for an adventure with this one.
He Said- It was our final night in Greece with our friends Jack and Danielle, and after ten full days of nervously carrying the ring - hidden in my sock, wrapped within my blazer, and stuffed to the bottom of my backpack - I was ready to ask Rachael to marry me. After a failed plan A and plan B, plan C was to propose on our private balcony which had a perfect view of the Santorini sunset. While Jack and Danielle helped distract Rachael at a nearby rooftop veranda, giving her the impression we would all be watching the sunset from there, the hotel set up candles and champagne on our balcony while I went back to get dressed and add the finishing touches with music. I texted Jack that everything was set and they should make it back to the suite. Once Rachael arrived, she looked confused and asked what I was doing wearing pants and a blazer. I then took her by the hand, led her to the balcony and got down on one knee with the sunset in full view. She Said- Our last night in Greece, meant one last beautiful sunset. Danielle and I were staking out the perfect spot to watch it while Tal & Jack went to get more wine from our hotel room (or so I thought.) Jack came back with the wine, and Tal was MIA. Finally I texted him to hurry or he was going to miss it! Jack convinced us that the sunset would be prettier from our balcony anyways so we headed back there. Once I arrived, I found music playing, candles lighting the balcony, a bottle of champagne, and Tal (in a suit that he somehow had stuffed in his backpack the entire time) on one knee. Needless to say, I said yes! (Followed by a shot of Greek Ouzo to celebrate!)
We can't wait to celebrate the BEST day with all of you!
