Atlanta has such a deep history of civil rights and this cultural attraction is excellent! If you’re looking for a place to explore the fundamental rights of all human beings and leave inspired and empowered to join the ongoing dialogue about human rights, you have to visit! Omid and I both had really impactful experiences here. Plan to spend a few hours because the exhibits are interactive and cover a range of topics. You won’t be disappointed.
One of our favorite ice cream spots (we also love Double Scoop Ice Cream and Morelli’s which are Black-owned). The Krog Street location is food court style with lots of other restaurants there too. One time Claudia had a double scoop of Jeni’s Fluffernutter in a fresh waffle cone 3 days in a row! Omid took her so if you think about judging her, Claudia's really the victim here lol.
We always take our visiting family and friends here. An old Sears factory turned mixed-use development, PCM has shops, restaurants, and access to the Beltline - a walking trail and Atlanta must-do. If you visit, you should definitely stop by King of Pops for a gourmet popsicle or poptail (cocktail with a popsicle.) There’s also a carnival on the rooftop that we haven’t actually been to yet (we planned to but then COVID happened) but we hear it’s great!
We love hiking and being outdoors! This park has some great trails along Sweetwater Creek (a Chattahoochee River tributary) and showcases some historical artifacts along the route. It’s been one of our favorite hikes within the city.
It's a little ways away but if you’re looking for some great Persian food, it is well worth the drive! It’s even gotten the approval of all of Omid’s family members. Everything is delicious but the Kabob Koobideh comes highly recommended; Omid and Claudia both love it. *picture captured pre-COVID*
