Flight

MDE- Jose Maria Cordova International Airport

Many of you will most likely need a connection flight from the United States. We advise arriving to Medellin 2-3 days prior to our wedding as delays and cancellations can happen. Usually, the best time to purchase tickets and get the best rate would be around 10-12 months before your travel date. When traveling to Medellin, catch a early fight out of your origin state. Many of you will most likely have flights that will have a connection in Miami, Atlanta, or Ft Lauderdale. We strongly advise you to allow 3-5 hours during your layover. This way if any delays occur with your first outgoing flight you don't have to stress about missing your connection to Medellin. When leaving Medellin, give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport. Traffic in Medellin can get bad. For example, if you are staying in El Poblado it can take 45 min to get to the airport without traffic. However, if there is a lot of traffic it can take 1.5 hrs or more. When you arrive to the airport, expect 2 lines before reaching your gate; security and immigration. We have encountered long lines that took us an hour to get through. We have also got through in 10 min when lines were not busy. Its better to give yourself plenty of time than miss your flight.

Travel Note

Important Note: Transportation To and From MDE Airport

Upon arrival and departure to the airport: If your are planning on taking a taxi, Didi rider, or a personal driver we can suggest to use, please bring 22,000 Colombian Pesos (about $6 USD) to pay for toll that will take you into the city and to the airport each way. You will also need pesos to pay the driver when you reach you destination. If your are staying in El Poblado or Envidago, plan on having AT LEAST 60,000 pesos (about $16 USD) each way to pay your driver. If you end up using a driver recommended by us please contact us so we can send you their Whatsapp number. We suggest to contact and book with plenty of time with your arrival date, departure date, and time of pick up.

Hotel

Novotel Medellin El Tesoro

Cra. 25a #1 a Sur 45, El Poblado, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Novotel is about a 20 minute drive (depending on traffic) to and from our venue. This hotel is located within the renowned El Tesoro Shopping Mall, which has a variety of shops, restaurants and entertainment. The hotel has a pool, spacious rooms, bar and restaurant with breakfast, and a spa. * *****For those staying at Novotel, transportation will be provided to and from our wedding venue. Please contact Olivia or Santiago directly by FEBRUARY 22 2024 if you will be staying at Novotel so we can arrange your transportation. ******

House Or Rental

Airbnb

For a more economical stay, we suggest booking a Airbnb. We highly recommend staying in Envigado or El Poblado as it is a safe location, as well as being a 15-30 min drive to our venue, and about 45 min drive to the airport (depending on traffic). ****Please note that we cannot provide transportation to the venue if you stay in a Airbnb. *****You will be responsible on finding a Didi, taxi, or we can give you a name of a trusted driver and they can pick you up. If you end up using a driver recommended by us please contact them with plenty of time with your dates and time of pick up.

Rental Car

Don't Rent A Car and Transportation Options

We strongly advise not renting a car due to traffic and crazy drivers in Medellin! For anyone who needs transportation to and from the airport, wedding, or tourism, Santi and I can give you names of trusted drivers we know personally who can pick you up. Please contact us directly so we can send you the names of the drivers and you can coordinate your transportation directly through WhatsApp with them. Be sure to have Colombian Pesos on hand to pay your driver when you reach your destination. Second option: If you feel comfortable, download the DiDi Rider app. It is just like the Uber/Lift service we have here in the US. You can use this service for transportation as well by submitting the location of where you would like to go, and a driver will pick you up at your current location. You will need to pay the driver upon arrival of your destination with Colombian Pesos.

Travel Note

Communication

If you need to communicate with Santi, Olivia, or a personal driver while in Colombia, download "WhatsApp." This app will allow you to make free calls and messages as long as you have international cell service or wifi.
