On a rainy Saturday in April, Matt and I met at Black Brick Coffee in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A month prior, we were introduced by our mutual friend, Maddie, after we had separately visited her in San Diego. Unbeknownst to the other, we both share a long-standing habit of early arrivals — so early, that we were each running 45 minutes ahead of schedule for our own first date. While trying to kill time, Matt decided to drop off Rigby with his sister nearby, and I chose to wander around the neighborhood, determined not to appear too eager. But the skies had other plans. It quickly started to downpour and I was left with no choice but to walk into the coffee shop and shamelessly wait. As I stepped inside with a full 20 minutes to spare, Matt was already standing there waiting with a smile. Four years later, and roughly 1,500 cups of coffee behind us, we find ourselves back in the borough where it all began, ready to start our next chapter together.
