(Version française ci-dessous) Alex and Olivia first met in 2016 during their undergrad at uOttawa at the homecoming “Panda” football game. They recognized each other while waiting in line, thanks to a mutual friend who had told them about each other. It turned out they shared several more mutual friends, leading to more chance encounters over the next few years, all of which were warmly welcomed. By 2019, Alex moved back to New Brunswick after finishing his degree. Despite the distance, his charm and sense of humor allowed their friendship to grow. That summer, Olivia attended a wedding in New Brunswick where she didn’t know many people and invited Alex to join her for the evening dancing. Shortly after arriving, Alex met most of Olivia’s family and soon found himself leading her in a slow dance. They had a fantastic time, and the spark between them was undeniable. In the weeks that followed, both tried to convince themselves that starting a long-distance relationship wasn’t the best idea. But when they reunited a month later, it became clear that the feelings between them were real. By late 2019, they made it official. After a few months apart, the COVID-19 pandemic allowed Olivia to join Alex in New Brunswick for six months while her medical school shifted to virtual classes. After several more months of long-distance, Alex was thrilled to start a new job in Ottawa and moved in with Olivia in 2021. They have since welcomed the most adorable two cats, Mama and Piper, and now all live in the home they bought together in 2024. ❖ Alex et Olivia se sont rencontrés pour la première fois en 2016, pendant leurs études de premier cycle à l'uOttawa, lors du match de football de la rentrée. Ils se sont reconnus en attendant dans la file, grâce à une amie commune qui leur avait parlé l’un de l'autre. Il s'est avéré qu'ils partageaient plusieurs autres amis communs, ce qui a conduit d'autres rencontres fortuites au cours des années suivantes, toutes chaleureusement accueillies. En 2019, Alex est retourné habiter au Nouveau-Brunswick après avoir terminé ses études. Malgré la distance, son charme et son sens de l'humour ont permis à leur amitié de se développer. Cet été-là, Olivia a assisté à un mariage au Nouveau-Brunswick où elle ne connaissait pas beaucoup de gens et a invité Alex à se joindre à elle pour la danse durant la soirée. Ils ont passé une soirée fantastique, et l’étincelle entre eux était indéniable. Dans les semaines qui ont suivi, les deux ont tenté de se convaincre qu'une relation à distance n'était pas la meilleure idée. Mais lorsqu'ils se sont retrouvés un mois plus tard, il est devenu évident que les sentiments entre eux étaient bien réels. À la fin de 2019, leur relation était officielle! Après quelques mois de relation à distance, la pandémie de COVID-19 a permis à Olivia de rejoindre Alex au Nouveau-Brunswick pendant six mois, alors que ses cours de médecine étaient virtuels. Après plusieurs autres mois de longue distance, Alex était ravi de commencer un nouvel emploi à Ottawa et de s'installer avec Olivia en 2021. Depuis, ils ont accueilli les deux chats les plus adorables, Mama et Piper, et vivent désormais dans la maison qu'ils ont achetée ensemble en 2024.
