Travel Note
Nestled in the rolling hills just outside of Montespertoli in Tuscany and approximately 45 minutes from Florence, Tenuta Corbinaia is a beautifully restored 19th-century estate with manicured gardens and a modern winery surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Tenuta Corbinaia will be our home for both the Poolside Welcome Pizza Party and all wedding day events and festivities.
Flight
There are many direct flights from major US cities into large metropolitan cities in Italy. The most common are Bologna (BLQ), Milan (MXP), and Rome (FCO). The smaller cities of Florence and Pisa have the closest airports to our venue in Tuscany. If you choose to travel primarily by air, see below and set one of these as your destination. ⸻ Florence Airport (FLR – Peretola) • About 45 minutes from the venue • Small, efficient airport with easy connections through major European hubs (Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich) • Taxis and private transfers available outside arrivals Pisa International Airport (PSA – Galileo Galilei) • About 1 hour 15 minutes from the venue • Often better fares and direct flights from the UK and Europe • Easy drive via the Fi-Pi-Li highway Tip: Florence is closest, but Pisa often has more flight options. Either airport works — consider coordinating with other guests to arrange ground transportation upon arrival at your final destination.
Train
Florence's train station is located in the heart of the city center with direct access from Rome, Milan, Venice, Bologna, and more, so you will choose this station if flying into a major Italian city and continuing on to Florence by rail. High-speed trains offer comfortable travel to Florence in under 2 hours and require reservations. Dedicated, regional “Tuscany” railway line: the Pisa-Florence railway (also known as “Ferrovia Leopolda”) connects Florence/Empoli/Pisa. These trains offer frequent services (> 30 minutes), are inexpensive, don’t require a seat reservation and have short journey times - allowing you to move between the city of Florence and its metropolitan countryside “Tuscan” towns. The best websites/apps to book BOTH high-speed trains AND regional trains are Trainline (thetrainline.com) and Omio.com (formally GoEuro). Both have a clean English interface, take a variety of payments and are great for tourists. If you are comfortable booking your high-speed trains directly with the individual train company, Trenitalia.com (official national railway) and italotreno.it offer booking options without additional convenience booking fees. 🚄This is the WAY Europeans travel!🚆
Rental Car
Driving in Tuscany is relaxed - roads are scenic and uncrowded and it’s the easiest way to get to a countryside accommodation (most offer ample parking). Tuscany is known for its peaceful beauty, warm hospitality amazing food and wine. So consider renting a car and taking time to wander, explore and enjoy a taste of la dolce vita between our wedding celebrations! Here are 10 recommended car-rental companies for your arrival in Florence, split between the airport (Florence Airport – Peretola) and the train station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella Station). ⸻ Airport Location (Peretola / FLR) 1. Enterprise (Florence Airport) 2. Europcar (Florence Airport) • Premium fleet options; good for a larger car or more comfort. 3. Hertz (Florence Airport) 4. Sixt (Florence Airport) • They list a full range of vehicles (SUVs, convertibles, etc) at the airport. 5. Budget / Avis (both at airport) ⸻ Train Station Location (SMN) – Central Florence 6. Sixt – SMN Station • Location inside the ticket hall of the station: Piazza della Stazione, 50123 Florence. 7. Locauto – SMN area • Why: Local Italian company; often competitive. 8. Hertz – SMN area • Address: Via Alamanni 35e (near the station). 9. Green Motion – SMN area (and around) • Address: Garage Porte Nuove Parking, Via delle Porte Nuove 21 etc. 10. Noleggiare – SMN area Tips & Things to Keep in Mind • Book early: Both airport and station rates can increase as pick-up date approaches. • ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone): If you’ll drive in central Florence, check whether your rental car is ZTL-compliant (or whether you’ll be entering restricted zones). • Pick-up vs drop-off logistics • Vehicle type: For countryside driving you may prefer an SUV or more spacious car—consider airport companies with wider fleets (Europcar, Sixt) • Extra costs: fuel policy, toll transponders, insurance/excess waiver – set aside budget.
Shuttle
June 6, 2026 4:00 pm
Guest shuttle service to and from wedding events (Welcome Party & Wedding Day) taking place at our venue -Tenuta Corbanaia, WILL BE PROVIDED for all guests staying within the “cluster” of suggested accommodations. We understand that this is also your vacation time and you may prefer to rent a private villa in the countryside or stay in Florence - which you are obviously welcome to do! Since we chose a winery venue location, we have decided to make it an immersive “Tuscan experience” so are suggesting accommodations within the countryside. These tend to be smaller with less rooms than larger, corporate hotels so we know people will not all be in one place and will make centralized stops to best transport everyone staying within these selections most comfortably. Taxis and private drivers ARE available for individual transportation (particularly if staying a distance from our group). However, planning and reservations are required in most cases. They are most available in Florence or slightly more populated towns like Empoli, Pisa, Certaldo, etc. Uber & taxi service is simply not readily available as it is in the US!
