The first time we saw each other was right before connect group, both confused and looking for the entrance. Isaac asked me if I was there for connect and I said yes, but since I'm rather shy and not good with talking to new people, I brushed him off and said I would call the connect group leader to figure out where we were. Turns out we were right in front of the apartment the whole time! Great first impression huh? At least he stuck around!
The first date with just the two of us was at The Bean Coffee Shop on 12th Street and Broadway. Isaac texted me to ask what I was up to and see if I wanted to grab coffee. At the time I was seeing a movie by myself but told him he was more than welcome to meet me afterwards at one of my favorite places nearby. The movie was Mary Queen of Scots, if you're curious! It worked out perfectly since he was coming all the way from Queens to Manhattan which if you're not familiar, can take quite a while. He met me there at 7:30 and we talked for hours until the place closed at 11:30. It was sweet!
Our first official date was at an Argentinian Steak House. Isaac really knows how to pick good places! But of course, I almost screwed it up and thankfully Krystal was there to save me. She and I were on the train returning from a weekend babysitting job in Jersey and I was telling her how I was going to get an early dinner with Isaac when I got back. She asked what I was going to wear and I replied "Eh, probably just these jeans and sneakers with a long sleeve t-shirt." It was March and she said I was absolutely crazy, this is definitely a date, and you need to go home and change. Good thing I listened to her! I got home, put on a sweater and a pair of boots, and hopped on the train to meet Isaac. On the way there it started snowing! And not just snowing, but actually snowing. Huge flakes! I got off the train and was waiting for him at the station feeling like it was a scene taken out of a movie. He arrived 5 minutes later and we walked to the place together with snow falling everywhere. As the only two people in the entire restaurant at 3pm on a snowy Sunday in NYC, it was about as magical as you can imagine.
