Already Married. Still Celebrating.

We both landed in Durham, North Carolina around 2017—Nozomi for nursing school from Oregon, and Justice for graduate school from Indiana. Shortly after arriving, Nozomi took a part-time job at a local rock climbing gym, and that’s where we met. What started as casual conversations quickly turned into a friendship built around food we missed from home. We took turns cooking for each other, and somewhere between shared meals and long talks, something special began to grow. One of Nozomi’s favorite early memories is when Justice flew to New York to visit friends and returned with an entire cake—just so she could try it. That kind of thoughtfulness has always been who he is. Over time, our friendship deepened into a loving partnership grounded in generosity, curiosity, and care. Justice proposed on Christmas Day in 2024, and we were married on January 11, 2025. One year in, we’re still learning from each other every day—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
