That we liked each other . . . Sarah: He was kind and gentle and wasn't trying to impress me, he just wanted to know me and make me happy. Drew: She liked D&D and had Welcome to Nightvale sweatpants. It made me think "Oh wait, she might be cool". That we loved each other . . . Sarah: On our first roadtrip to Baltimore to visit his family, I realized he was bringing me into his life in such an amazing way, with no hesitation. And he had packed some of my stomach medicine in his bag in case I got sick. Drew: When she said I love you on Sunset Beach on Thanksgiving, that unlocked it for me. That we wanted to marry each other . . . Sarah: When he asked for my ring size for the second time, it was no longer a vague concept but an actual thing that was going to happen. I was scared to make such a big move, but he always made me feel safe. Everything we do together is fun, and this would be, too. Drew: Christmas 2023, we spent 250 hours together, and after 1 hour apart I knew I never wanted another away from her.
December 7th 2024: we took a walk to the neighborhood tree lighting ceremony, but it was freezing and taking forever. And mostly for kids. We got a drink and came back and they still hadn't lit the tree. Drew had gotten the ring a few days before (and asked one of my family members for permission) and was going to pop the question when the tree lit up, but it was just not happening. We were cold and decided to go home and be cozy instead. We had gotten dressed up, and looked nice, so I asked him to take some cute selfies in front of the tree. After a few clicks, he said "one more" and dropped to one knee. I then began laughing maniacally for far too long. Once I stopped, we told our families and just sat in total bliss on our cozy couch.
