Flight
The New Delhi Airport is pretty large, with great connectivity from most major US cities. Both United and Air India have direct flights from some US cities. If you'd like to look at options with a stopover, you could also look at taking one of the European or Middle Eastern airlines (from the East Coast or Midwest) or Air Nippon or Cathay (from the West Coast) In terms of timings, the event on the 20th will take place in the late evening (post 7 pm). The reception on the 22nd is during the day and will wrap up by 4pm so you could fly out that evening itself if you need to get home quickly! December is generally a busy time, so we'd suggest booking soon. In general, flying back to the US before 31st December will save you significant $$. Let us know if you have any questions!
Travel Note
We hope that you'll use this trip to explore India beyond Delhi. For this, you can either DIY or use preset 'holidays' from websites such as MakeMyTrip. In case you would like a more personalized approach, you can reach out Navkiran from Offroads (http://offroadsindia.com/). Just mention 'Nishtha and Sid's wedding' and she'll be happy to create a tour as per your requirements. Her email id is: nbrar@offroadsindia.com We are obviously here in case you have any questions or need suggestions. For starters, if you have limited time and have never visited India, we'd recommend a day trip to Agra and spending a few days in Rajasthan.
Travel Note
Can MBA students really do anything without excel? Here's an excel to help you start planning your trip. Please put up your flight details as soon as you've booked them. This will help you find travel buddies and help us as we look for discounted hotel blocks.
Rental Car
We will have a travel concierge to help y'all with your travel needs. The wedding planners will give you more information closer to date but in general you'll have cabs/shuttles for all wedding related activities. Also, Uber works throughout the city, and is significantly cheaper than Uber in the US. We'd suggest taking an UberPremier (more UberBlack than UberX, and the cars are likely to be nicer). Uber is generally pretty safe, but we'd recommend not traveling alone.
