Things To Do

Delhi's an amazing city, with tons to do across the spectrum - food, sightseeing, shopping, bars. We're excited for you to explore our hometown! For all you sticklers, please be warned - many descriptions are the result of shameless Wikipedia plagiarizing
Humayun’s Tomb

Humayun’s Tomb

New Delhi, DL 110013, India
, +91 11 2435 5275

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Humayun’s Tomb was built in the 1560’s, with the patronage of Humayun’s son, the great Emperor Akbar. Persian and Indian craftsmen worked together to build the garden-tomb, far grander than any tomb built before in the Islamic world. Humayun’s garden-tomb is an example of the charbagh (a four quadrant garden with the four rivers of Quranic paradise represented), with pools joined by channels. The garden is entered from lofty gateways on the south and from the west with pavilions located in the centre of the eastern and northern walls

India Gate

India Gate

New Delhi, DL, India

A monument often synonymous with Delhi, The India Gate (originally called the All India War Memorial) is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath, on the eastern edge of the "ceremonial axis" of New Delhi, India, formerly called Kingsway. India Gate is a memorial to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in the period 1914–21 in the First World War, in France, Flanders, Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli and elsewhere in the Near and the Far East, and the Second Anglo-Afghan War. 13,300 servicemen's names, including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the gate. The India Gate, even though a war memorial, evokes the architectural style of the triumphal arch like the Arch of Constantine, outside the Colosseum in Rome, and is often compared to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and the Gateway of India in Mumbai.

The Lotus Temple, located in Delhi, India, is a Bahá'í House of Worship. Notable for its flowerlike shape, it has become a prominent attraction in the city. Like all Bahá'í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification. The building is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides, with nine doors opening onto a central hall with a height of slightly over 34.27 metres and a capacity of 2500 people. The Lotus Temple has won numerous architectural awards and has been featured in many newspaper and magazine articles. A 2001 CNN report referred to it as the most visited building in the world.

Dilli Haat

Dilli Haat

New Delhi, DL 110023, India

Dilli Haat is a open-air food plaza and craft bazaar located in Delhi, providing a glimpse into wares and flavors from different regions of India. Extensive foundation work, small thatched roof cottages and kiosks give the plaza a village atmosphere. Some shops are permanent but other sellers are rotated, usually for fifteen days. Products offered may include rosewood and sandalwood carvings, embellished camel hide footwear, sophisticated fabric and drapery, gems, beads, brassware, metal crafts, and silk & wool fabrics. A number of shows promoting handicrafts and handlooms are held at the exhibition hall in the complex.

Chandni Chowk

Chandni Chowk

New Delhi, DL, India

In the heart of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk is a busy shopping area with markets full of spices, dried fruit, silver jewelry and vivid saris, while the narrow side streets are crowded with tiny shops selling essential oils, stationery and traditional Indian sweets. Nearby, the vast Mughal-era Red Fort now houses a museum complex, and the 17th-century Jama Masjid is a huge red-sandstone mosque with towering minarets. Fun Fact: Nishtha's childhood home was here!

Indian Accent

Sid's favorite restaurant in Delhi by a long margin. The restaurant has a presence in New York as well, but Sid swears by the original. The food has Indian roots, but subtle influences from different parts of the world. Make reservations, and go there hungry. Pro tip - the tasting menu is worth it, and they're willing to make substitutions!

DLF CyberHub

DLF CyberHub

Nothing special from a historical POV, but essentially a one-stop shop for tons of restaurants and bars, set amidst the concrete metropolis of Cyber City. Go there is you're feeling lazy about researching restaurants/bars to hit up

For all the days along the way
