Question

Good to Know

Answer

Belgian weather is notoriously unpredictable so you may want to bring an extra layer in case it is chilly or rainy. We recommend comfortable shoes for the cobblestone streets of Leuven and as the ceremony on Saturday may be outdoors.

Question

What should Belgium be known for?

Answer

Is it Brussels sprouts? Is it muscles from Brussels (Jean-Claude Van Damme)? Many people think Belgium's claim to fame should be waffles and chocolate and while that statement is not entirely incorrect, Thomas will vehemently debate it should instead be beers and frites. And don't get him started on the term "French Fries", they're Belgian Frites!

Question

How should I order a Stella as a local?

Answer

Firstly, it's good to realise not all bars in Leuven serve Stella. It’s true, Belgium does offer some other pretty great beers besides our pride from Leuven. To confirm which lager they have on tap, look for the brewery’s logo next to the bar signage outside of the cafe. If you want to use the universal sign to order a lager from the tap, simply hold up your pinky. This translates to “e pinke” which is dialect for “a pint”. Don’t forget to try the other beers as well: Omer, Tripel Karmeliet, Cornet and Duvel are a good place to start and if you are feeling adventurous try some Belgium Sours like Geuze Boon. There are hundreds to choose from and Thomas will happily share more of his favorites.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Vegetarian options will be plentiful. Please also let us know of any food allergies in the comment box when completing your RSVP.

Question

Do I Need A Car?

Answer

We've designed the weekend with limited car access in mind. With shuttles to/from the venue and plenty of restaurants/bars/shops within Leuven city center, we don't expect you'll need one. The city center is very walkable and if you want to explore on bike, you can find rental options here https://www.visitleuven.be/en/bicycle-rent If you wish to explore further outside of the city, Leuven is well connected to neighboring cities by train.

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We recommend staying in Leuven center to be in walking distance for our pre-wedding events. Hotel recommendations and additional details are provided in the Travel section.
