Flying to Carmel

Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) is the best airport to fly into and only 15 minutes from anywhere in Carmel/Monterey. It is a smaller airport so non-west coast guests will probably have to transfer here. Make sure to stop at Woody's on your return flight, the only restaurant in the airport and a local favorite. https://www.montereyairport.com/destinations Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) is the next closest airport and serves many more direct flights. It's about a 90 minute drive from San Jose so you would need a rental car or catch the Monterey Airbus Schedule San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) are larger airports and easier to fly into but both are at least 2 hours from Monterey with no traffic. SFO also offers some flights to MRY so it may be a good transfer spot.

La Playa Carmel

Direct family and the majority of the wedding party will be staying at La Playa. The welcome party will also be hosted here, as well as the shuttles to and from the reception and ceremony. Places to stay in Carmel

Carmel has several small boutique hotels and bed n’ breakfast type accommodations available. There are also some Airbnb’s available. Carmel is small enough that most places are walking distance so most accommodations will be close to La Playa for shuttles and the welcome party.

Places to stay near Del Monte Shopping Center

Del Monte has several motels near Del Monte center that may be more affordable than staying downtown Carmel. Carmel is about a 15 minute drive away from this area. Downtown Monterey is also walking distance. See the recommendations page for places we like downtown!

Shuttle

Shuttle from La Playa to Tehama

Camino Real at Eighth Avenue, Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA 93921 There will be a shuttle at 3pm departing from La Playa Carmel and will return from Tehama at 9:30pm and 11pm. The shuttle will be at the bottom lot of La Playa, out the back courtyard. The front desk will also be able to direct you to this designated area.

Rental Car

Getting around Carmel and Monterey

If you are coming from any airport that is not MRY, you will probably need to get a rental car. Monterey Airbus does daily shuttles from all airports to Carmel/Monterey and can be another option. Uber and Lyft both operate in Monterey and are a good choice to get around, but they are not as plentiful as a large city like San Francisco so wait times can be longer.
