Nina and John met Halloween of 2012 at the Wagon Wheel Saloon in downtown San Jose. John, Colin, Davis, and Nord had all dressed up as “sexy kittens” that night in an effort to meet the ladies who also had dressed up as cats. Nina was one of those kittens. Upon taking a picture with their matching outfits, John asked Nina for her number so he could send her the photo. They then went their separate ways for the night. Later, however, they continued to text and decided to meet up for dinner. Nina admitted she didn’t know which kitten in the photo was John, to which he responded “well I hope its the one you still want to talk to”. They didn’t officially start dating until about a year later but when John was homeless and jobless, Nina decided to “buy low” on him and give their relationship a chance. Nina and John spent 7 years in San Francisco and after almost a decade of being together, John bought tickets to France in April 2020 with plans to propose in Paris. But the world said “woah, not so fast, why don’t you slow down a bit?” and so they moved to Tahoe in mid 2020 during the height of the COVID pandemic instead. On Thanksgiving 2020, he proposed to Nina in North Lake Tahoe with Arman, Maria, Bijan, and Samar as witnesses. In December 2021 they bought a house in Monterey, CA near her parents and childhood home and brought their Tahoe rescue kitty, Miller, with them. The couple of kittens had become three and looked forward to whatever the future held.
