We met back in April 2017 at Mile Square Park, and I believe it was meant to be. I was there with my family for a Vietnamese festival, and he was there with his friend, and... two big snakes (yes, I know how crazy that sounds). My niece, Sierra, ran over with a bunch of other kids to check them out, and of course, I followed to keep an eye on her. At first, I started talking to him because we were standing face to face, and it felt awkward to just stand there in silence. But once we started chatting, something clicked. I felt strangely comfortable, like we had known each other forever. I remember thinking, “Dang, whoever his girlfriend is must be really lucky.” We talked until the sun went down, and it felt like time just paused for a bit. Right before he left, he asked for my number. I hesitated because I had never given my number to a stranger before. I ended up giving him my Snapchat instead, thinking that was safer. Over the next few weeks, he kept asking me to hang out, and I kept dodging with excuse after excuse. Eventually, I said yes, and it’s kind of crazy to think about now, but that moment changed everything. I found out later that he had already decided, “If she says 'no' one more time, I’m not asking again.” So that “yes” turned out to be a pretty big deal. Looking back, I really believe God was at work, nudging us toward each other and planting the seeds for something much bigger. Since then, we’ve been inseparable. Our love has grown through all kinds of seasons, and I’ve felt God guiding us every step of the way. The rest is history, and the future is still a blank page, ready for us to fill with love, laughter, sweet memories, and (God-willing) a lot of little ones of our own. 💕 If you ask me, I truly believe that God made us for one another, just as it is written in Genesis 2:18. I believe when He formed Nilton and me, He already had a plan for us to be together, to enter into this covenant with Him, even though we had seemingly completely different upbringings. We are forever grateful for His love that has nurtured us, and for His care that has guided us to this moment. Our love is truly a gift from the Lord. Ever since we committed ourselves to placing God at the center of our relationship, He has transformed it into something more beautiful and meaningful than we could have ever imagined. May Jesus guide our path as we step into this new covenant together. And may the Holy Family continue to intercede for us, keeping us in their prayers.
