First comes school, then comes dating for 11 years, and finally marriage! The day I saw her walk through the door of our psychology class, is still vividly etched into my memory. I immediately noticed her as she entered, wearing a really cute striped maxi dress. I didn't know anyone in the class and have always been shy and quiet. She introduced herself and included me in her group for a class assignment. It just showed how caring and inclusive she was for those around her, a trait that I fell in love with her for. We eventually had another class together where we only knew each other. We sat together and over time learned more and more about one another. I saw her struggling with working multiple jobs and an immense amount of school work. She came to class exhausted, so I bought her a coffee. Bringing coffee in the mornings leads to the obvious conversation about donuts, which she informed me that she liked Maple Bars. Soon after I brought her a maple bacon donut from a mom and pop shop near my place. Looking back, I'm sure that was the key to her heart. One day she informed me that she had to move out of her rental house she had with some roommates and was going to struggle getting it done. I offered my help to make sure she was able to get it done in time. Seeing how hard she pushed herself with her job, full time at school, and now the move, she needed a break. I took her on a friend date to DeVere's and Burgers and Brew in Davis. From there we started to get closer as we found how compatible we were. She would pull me out of my shell and I was able to help her pump the brakes and slow life down. We went on an actual date shortly after. Still wrapping up the move, she entrusted me with a key to help move the final things to her new place. I took the opportunity to ask her if we could be "official." She came home to tea lights in the shape of a heart around a jewelry box. Inside was a heart shaped locket, inside that it said, "Will You...Be Mine?" She said yes and over the next handful of months our lives started quickly growing together. *To be noted* Miles was never a cat person, even though Gaven had dog-like tendencies, but knew he had to learn to love Gaven. So he did a lot of research to understand their behaviors to become more comfortable with them. Now he is a proud cat dad and they are attached at the hip. I started spending a lot more time with her and one day I saw her computer struggling to render images for her Thesis. I offered to bring over my desktop (which she didn't realize it was a giant tower), and she accepted the support. That was the moment we really started to become inseparable as I also needed my computer. Over the years, the sheer amount of support and unconditional love that we gave each other was incredible. Personally having struggled with multiple job losses (working in a volatile industry), and the rippling effects from it, she was always a trooper through the worst of it. During the first job loss, she mentally and emotionally supported me, and that's when I knew she was the one. We have continued to be there for each other through all of what life has thrown at us. After 11 years of supporting each other through thick and thin...it was time. My initial plans had fallen through, so I set up a new opportunity by taking her to a local Nursery called High Hand Nursery in Loomis. She has always loved plants and nature, so I decided it would be a pretty place to pop the question, and she was on the hunt for a lemon tree anyways. While browsing the plants she said, "I always wanted one of these," and I knelt down and responded with, "I thought you always wanted one of these?" While presenting her a ring in a custom wooden box. It was etched with, "...How about forever," playing off the heart shaped locket.
