Long Island City is the westernmost neighborhood in Queens, New York. It sits directly across the East River from Manhattan. For reference, a cab ride from Long Island City to midtown would take approximately 20 minutes. Long Island City is indeed on Long Island, as all of Brooklyn and Queens make up the western-most edge of Long Island.
