One of our favorite places to grab a drink, take a walk, or have some dinner! This neighborhood is where Hotel Broad Ripple is located and makes for a fun morning or afternoon of exploring. Grab a coffee and take a walk down the Monon Trail to the White River, take a lunch break at the delicious Garden Table, or pop in and out of the fun shops located around each corner.
Only a mile and a half from downtown Indianapolis, Fountain Square was the first commercial historic district in Indiana, its existing buildings span more than a century of development from 1871 to the present. Today, Fountain Square is one of the six Indianapolis Cultural Districts and is linked to the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, a world class urban bike and pedestrian path that connects to downtown Indianapolis. Fountain Square is a vibrant and eclectic neighborhood offering great food and entertainment.
Massachusetts Avenue, or Mass Ave, is a five-block area ripe with theaters, restaurants, art galleries, and, most attractively for shoppers, a number of eclectic, independent boutiques. You'll encounter unique finds on each block, from Stout's Shoes (the nation's oldest shoe store, established in 1886), to Silver In The City (offering silver jewelry and unique gift items), to The Best Chocolate In Town (which is fairly self-descriptive). Venture to the Athenaeum for a stein of German lager in the historic Rathskeller biergarten, try local craft beers at Ralston's Drafthouse, or sip a cocktail at the prohibition-era Ball&Biscuit. Mass Ave also has some of the best restaurants that Indy has to offer.
No matter the weather, someone is enjoying the Monon Trail during the day. Completed in 2003 – the Monon Trail measurers approximately 10.4 miles from 10th Street to 96th Street, where it connects with the 5.2-mile Monon Greenway in Carmel. Located just steps from Hotel Broad Ripple, rent a bike or take a stroll on the Monon for a great way to explore the beautiful scenery of Indianapolis!
