Travel Note

Traveling in Guadalajara

Uber is not allowed to LEAVE from the airport; ie from Guadalajara airport to the hotel Below are some recommendations: -Order a Taxi at the airport: Upon landing at the Guadalajara airport after you have your bags and are about to head out the airport doors there's a large sign that reads "TAXI" there you can state the destination, know the price ahead of time and have the taxi there! -Order Taxi through booking.com on the "airport taxi" tab; have the flight tracked and pay ahead of time -Contact the Double Tree driver Dio via WhatsApp at 52 33 3173 4129 -- state date, flight, and number of people to have him reserve a car so they may await you with a sign; you may message in English or Spanish. The cost depends on the car (approx $500 pesos small car or approx $1000 pesos large car). Included transportation: -Round trip to Tequila for 1/12/24 (leaving from Double Tree to Tequila and back); you should have already RSVP'd and it is $500 pesos per person *refer to Tequila post for details* -After the church ceremony there are two buses taking invitees to the reception, then after the party (approx 1am/2am) from the reception back to Double Tree; therefore please arrive to the church by Uber or through another coordination (ie Double Tree coordination) PS Once at Double Tree you may order a taxi back to the airport

Hotel

DoubleTree by Hilton Guadalajara Centro Historico

73 Calle Colón
Guadalajara, Jal. 44100, Mexico

This is in the Centro Historica of Guadalajara surrounded by a lively environment day & night. Just a short walk to two beautiful churches. There are multiple street vendors, delicious "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants & approx 5 minute Uber drive to the church for the ceremony! Just downstairs there is a cafe with great options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert & coffee - even a "to-go" window. Puma, McDonalds, and other well-known brands are nearby. Luis & I will be staying here! Front desk speaks both Spanish & English.

Hotel

Villa Ganz Boutique Hotel

1739 Calle Manuel López Cotilla
Guadalajara, Jal. 44160, Mexico

This is a boutique hotel with top-notch front staff that often even speaks both English & Spanish. The hotel is located in Colonia Americana which is well known for its fantastic, diverse cuisine. The location often has more English speakers. The hotel is secure and a walk of approximately 7-10 minutes to Chapultepec (known area of great bars & restaurants).

Flight

Mexican airlines

Leaving from Tijuana - Purchase the border crossing roundtrip to save a few $ Aeromexico - In our experience the preferred airline, often straight forward and all fees included Viva Aerobus - Good service yet often has hidden fees (baggages fees, seats, Mexican tourist fee of $35 yet waived if you are a Mexican citizen, etc.)

Rental Car

Car Rental Guadalajara - Airport

Km. 17.5 Boulevard Aeropuerto
Guadalajara, Jal. 45659, Mexico

Not recommended! Too many hidden fees and often will claim the insurance that was pre-purchased is not covered. It is best if you wish to rent a car to do it in person. The driving in Guadalajara, MX is NOT like the United States and not recommended if you have never driven in Mexico. Many areas in Guadalajara do not have many areas for parking so you often have to pay to park in a structure and the structures may not be immediately near your destination. If you are visiting, it is recommended to use Ubers (much cheaper than in states and the app works great) so you can travel at ease and enjoy the views.
