Less than 200 meters from the beach there are six shipwrecks laying beneath the Caribbean sea of Barbados for you to explore. These wrecks feature hundreds of fish, and even some sea turtles. We recommend the wreck at Carlisle Bay, as it's close distance from the venue. You can access these wrecks by swimming from the beach, or can join a Catamaran Snorkeling tour.
The Barbados Wildlife reserve is the best place to see monkeys swinging, eating, and playing in their natural habitat. We suggest visiting at their feeding time - 11am & 2pm daily.
If you're looking for the best traditional Bajan food, check out Oistin's Fish Fry. Here you'll find several local vendors with fresh fish caught daily. Friday night is the most lively time to visit with live music. We recommend trying fly fish, a Bajan specialty! For a fun Friday, plan on going to Oistins and then checking out Harbour lights!
Check out the Barbados Caves at the North tip of the island. These caves features 8-foot deep crystal-clear water for you to swim. Afterwards, you can have lunch at the on-site restaurant. Last time we went there was a huge fishing line - and the fisherman told us he was fishing for Bull shark!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Barbados right on the beach. All food is locally sourced, and there is a trendy atmosphere with a DJ on weekends. The perfect place to watch the sunset while you have dinner. (We recommend the rum & coconut drink and fresh lobster!)
As you may know, Rihanna grew up in Barbados. Her original house is located in the Barbados capital of Bridgetown, and can be rented as an Airbnb. Her current mansion sits in St. James, Barbados, on a beautiful beach. Barbados has no private beaches, so you can swim in front of her house where you'll see the security guards (we haven't spotted her yet but let us know if anyone does!)
For those looking to get a bit closer to the shipwrecks and marine life, there is amazing Scuba Diving in Barbados. Whether you’re certified or trying it for the first time, scuba diving is an unforgettable way to add some magic (and a splash of adrenaline) to the wedding week. If interested, we recommend using Roger's Scuba Shack in Carlisle Bay. You'll be in good hands!
Spend half a day in Holetown by starting at Holetown beach for swim or snorkel among reef fish and possibly turtles. If it's not too wavy you can even swim out to the shipwreck. You can then stroll through the colorful Chattel Village for some shopping, or stop at the cafe for a smoothie. If you're into history, stop by the nearby St. James Parish Church, the island’s oldest Anglican church. Wrap up with a relaxing seaside lunch— there's a seaside walk with plenty of restaraunts. It's a perfect blend of beach, culture, and flavor in just a few hours.
