We were both freshmen at Boston University when we signed up for a dating site (Date My School) that had flyers all over campus. We didn't expect to find the love of our lives, but when Nicole saw Eli's profile (his love of 80's music, his cute reference to the Pina Colada song, and that he grew up in Connecticut) she decided to reach out. We talked online for a few days, then met each other in person for the first time on February 23, 2013 in the lobby of Warren Towers. We took the T to Saus by Quincy Market on a drizzly night and got to know each other. Nicole was shy, but Eli knew she was something special. Eli eventually brought Nicole out of her shell and we fell in love. We're happy to say we've been each other's best friends since we were 18 years old, and can't imagine life without each other.
Nicole just got out of work and Eli was coming up to visit her in Boston for the weekend. We were trying to figure out where to go to dinner so Eli suggested our old college spot Sunset Cantina near Boston University. Little did Nicole know, Eli had gotten permission from Dean Elmore to propose to Nicole in the very spot they met for their first date. With a little luck, Nicole coincidentally needed to use the bathroom, which Eli used as reasoning for going into Warren Towers (after all, alumni should be able to use the bathroom at their former school). Nicole was convinced we wouldn't be allowed in, but to her surprise security let us through. While Nicole was trying to go towards the bathroom, Eli pulled her towards a common area that was decorated with rose petals and a "Marry Me" sign. Eli got down on one knee and popped the question! Nicole said yes, and Dean Elmore and Eli's sister Hannah came out from hiding to celebrate with us!
Despite having been together for more than 10 years, we've spent most of our relationship in a long distance form. Nicole's career has taken her to Ohio, Maine and Massachusetts - while Eli's career has taken him to Connecticut, Maryland and Massachusetts. We never seemed to be in the same state at the same time! After working hard for so many years to bring our lives together, it finally happened in April of 2022. Nicole continues to work at 7News, while Eli works at Eli Lilly & Company. We're so happy God has finally brought our paths together and we're super excited to get married in front of all of our family and friends!
