Atticus is one of our absolute favorite places!! Head to the downtown location on Chapel Street to check out their bookstore and cafe, or to their East Rock location on Orange Street for some fun market goods (and the same lovely selection of food, pastries, and drinks). Fun fact - the Chapel Street Bookstore and Cafe was the site of our first date, and the last place we stopped at on our move to Boston! :')
We highly recommend spending some time at the Yale University Art Gallery (YUAG)! It's free to visit, right in the middle of downtown, and has an incredible selection of art. It is also beautiful to walk around in, and conveniently right across the street from Atticus!
Elena's became a *staple* for us during our time living in East Rock. If you're looking for delicious, high-quality soft-serve, in a cozy neighborhood spot - this is it! Be sure to try out their special flavor or sundae of the week, and their signature chocolate dip (it is seriously incredible).
East Rock park is a stunning alcove of nature, right in New Haven! Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the park itself, and take the short hike up to the top for a beautiful view of the city!
Our personal favorite New Haven pizza spot (I know, controversial), right by where we lived in East Rock. If you're looking for classic New Haven-style pizza, but with innovative toppings and fun combinations, this is your spot! Be sure to try the GOAT, our personal go-to.
If you haven't been to Yale before, we definitely recommend popping into Sterling library! It is an iconic spot for all of us who have studied there, and the nave and large reading rooms are beautiful! While you're there, walk around Cross Campus and explore the Yale undergraduate campus.
Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library is one of the most unique places to visit. The building is designed to only let in light through its thin marble walls, to preserve the very delicate books and manuscripts inside. The main entrance hall is open and free to visitors - it really is worth stepping inside if you haven't been!
If you're looking for something to do on Saturday morning, check out the Farmer's Market in Wooster Square!
