Flight
The easiest way to reach the Siena area is by flying into Florence (FLR) or Rome (FCO), then taking the train, bus, or driving to the Siena area.
Rental Car
The best way to get around Tuscany is by renting a car or hiring a private driver. A couple of notes if you plan to go this route: - Flying into Rome is often the simplest option with more convenient flight choices. The drive from FCO to Siena is roughly 2.5–3 hours, and having a car makes accessing the Tuscan countryside much easier. - If you plan to stay in Siena city center, we'd recommend finding parking outside of the city center to avoid fines. - If you are renting a car, be sure to get a (physical, not digital) International Driving Permit from AAA before your trip.
Train
If you do not plan on renting a car or hiring a driver, the best way to get to Siena is by flying into Florence (FLR), and either taking the train or bus to Siena. Trenitalia offers frequent trains from Florence to Siena, and Autolinee Toscane offers frequent transfers by bus.

Travel Note
Italy has occasional train strikes and delays, so buses, private transfers, and rental cars are the most reliable options. It is incredibly challenging to get around Tuscany without access to a car, and it is nearly impossible to find a taxi once there.
