In August of 2016, they each walked into a theatre into a small rehearsal space. There was a brief exchange of hellos. Then, as two strangers at this point, they were paired together and went to work for a photoshoot. With a little white lie and a smile with the utmost trust, a dance lift was created and sealed in memory with a photo. For months, they worked alongside each other without a single personal conversation being had. At the end of the fall season, a lunch was shared out of formal nicety and a genuine friendship began. Time went by with Alyssa living in New York and Nick living in Arizona. In the summer of 2018, Alyssa moved home to Arizona to be with her family and father who had fallen ill. The two grew closer and closer. Now they are here today, ready to begin the rest of their forever together. #foreverflores
On December 23rd, 2020 the two of us met on stage yet again. It was the closing show of Alyssa's Holiday show "Unwrapped" at The Phoenix Theatre Company. Over four years ago we met for the very first time at that same theatre. With an awful year between the two of us, during a pandemic, I refused to end the year on a bad note. With the help of The Phoenix Theatre Company staff, and close family and friends, I got down on one knee at the end of her show; microphone in one hand and the ring in the other. - Nick Flores
Alyssa's engagement ring has quite the history. With the love and support of his parents, Nick had the absolute honor to present Alyssa with a custom ring from family generations. Two days short of 40 years to the day when Nick proposed, his father Armando proposed to his mother Debra on Christmas day of 1980. With the blessing from his parents, Nick was able to put in a stone from the very engagement ring that his father proposed with, as well as a stone from his great grandmother on his mothers side. With the family stones and the center stone that Nick picked out, it is a ring of generations.
