Nick and Kat met during their time in the Army shortly after Nick was transferred to the unit, DIVARTY. One cold day in March a handful of soldiers were chosen to go to the range, both of them among this group. Nick, who is always wearing his Oakley sunglasses, was poking fun at one of his soldiers but Kat believed these comments were being directed at her as she could not see who he was looking at. What began as a simple misunderstanding turned into laughing with each other the rest of the day and quickly evolved into neither of them being able to stay away from the other. She fell in love with his smile and contagious belly laughs, and he fell in love with her fun-loving, easy to get along with personality. A beautiful friendship formed as the two were glued together at the hip every chance they got together. Only months later Nick decided to make breakfast for dinner in Kat’s barracks room one night and gave her a heart shaped pancake asking her to be his. In November of 2019 after Nick returned home from Korea, he knelt below the towering Christmas tree at the Toldeo Zoo’s Lights Before Christmas, and asked Kat to begin the rest of their lives together as man and wife. The two have served their country together, got their first place togther, their first fur-baby, have endured long amounts of time apart, moved states together, began entirley new lives together, and now they take on their greatest adventure yet... Marriage. ❤️
