This is where we’re getting married! It’s a charming little lakeside community and one of the most picturesque places in Ohio. It also happens to be Hanna’s favorite place—she’s been coming here every summer for over 30 years! And since we met, it has been a special place for us every summer. Lakeside, along with the surrounding areas, truly feels like a second home to us, and we’re so excited to share it with you. It will be the off-season during our wedding weekend, which is ideal for enjoying a calm, peaceful vibe without having to deal with crowds and gate passes. Lakeside is famous for its cozy coffee shops, famous ice cream spots, and local boutiques. It's a dry community, which makes it a nice contrast with everything outside the gates. We hope you feel the magic here just like we do!
Did you know Lake Erie has 36 islands? Pretty wild, right? This is one of our favorite islands on the lake! Nick and I love taking the ferry over with our bikes, exploring the trails, grabbing a bite to eat, and soaking in the lakefront views. It’s such a cool spot to visit—and the ferry terminal is just 3 minutes outside the Lakeside gates, making it an easy and fun little adventure!
This one—South Bass Island—is probably the most famous island of them all. It’s home to Put-in-Bay, packed with wineries, restaurants, shopping, swim-up bars, and plenty to explore. We love spending time here—it’s always an adventure! To get there, you’ll want to take the Jet Express ferry from Port Clinton to Put-in-Bay. This ferry drops you off in the heart of downtown if you just want to walk around there. The Miller Ferry is shorter, but you will most certainly need a golf cart to get into downtown from this port. Renting a golf cart for the day to get you around the island is must unless you have some bikes. It's a really good time! If you have any questions about getting there or planning your visit, just let us know—we’re happy to help!
The Marblehead Lighthouse is one of Lake Erie’s most iconic and photographed landmarks—and for good reason! It’s the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes and truly iconic to this area. Whether you bike there or drive, it’s an easy and scenic stop with stunning lake views. You’ll even catch a glimpse of Cedar Point from the shore. It’s also a great spot for pictures—so don’t forget your camera!
Looking for some fun and thrills? Don’t miss Cedar Point! Consistently ranked as one of the top amusement parks in the country, it’s home to some of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world. It’s a great spot for families, kids, and anyone craving an adrenaline rush. Just a heads up, it will be closed on Monday Oct, 6th, but you could plan to go on Thursday Oct 2 or Sunday Oct 5th, which will be a "Halloweekend"—with spooky decorations, haunted attractions, and festive fun to get you in the Halloween spirit!
Hanna grew up going to this place all the time—and it’s still just as wild and wonderful! The Ohio Safari Park is a drive-thru wildlife safari where you can feed incredible animals from around the world, right from your car. Ever fed a bison? Or been nose-to-nose with a giraffe? You will here! From alpacas to zebras, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience that’s fun for all ages. Just a heads-up: your car might get a little messy from curious creatures—but trust us, it’s totally worth it, especially if you’ve got kids in tow!
