Meet Us at the Lake

HOW WE MET Our story began in January 2019 at a yoga studio in Columbus, Ohio. At the time, Hanna was managing the studio and Nick popped in to see about becoming a teacher there. Actually, Nick just serendipitously walked in to see about teaching a class just as Hanna was about to lead a class herself. We noticed each other right away, feeling that special something even as we first met. Nick stayed for class and afterward we found ourselves bonding over our shared love of yoga and travel. Nick had just returned from Peru, and Hanna had recently come back from Costa Rica, so we had plenty to talk about. A couple of days later, Nick came to teach his first class and there was a freak blizzard that canceled class and stranded Nick at the studio. Hanna, living nearby, came to meet him for lunch and the rest is history. We started as friends—sharing meals, dancing at local parties, and getting to know each other’s worlds. About five months in, Nick invited Hanna to visit Chicago, where he used to live. That trip sealed it for us. We shared the same taste in music, food, and adventure—and it became clear we’d found something rare and real. Just one year into our relationship, the world shut down. We weren’t prepared to navigate a global pandemic so early on, but we were so grateful to have each other through such an uncertain time. It was a wild ride that brought us closer and made us stronger. In April 2021, we moved into our cozy city townhome. Nick proposed in 2022, and now here we are—getting married in 2025. Over the last five years, we’ve taught together at the same yoga studio in Columbus, and we’ve had the joy of leading couples classes and workshops from time to time in the community. We also teach together at Lakeside, where we get to combine our love for movement, mindfulness, and connection in a place that means so much to us. Since those early days, we’ve traveled to Costa Rica (together this time), Hawaii, Colorado, Washington, and beyond—gathering memories and deepening our bond. Being together has always felt like coming home, and we’ve known for a long time that this is the person we want to spend our lives with. WHY LAKESIDE CHAUTAUQUA? This is where we’re getting married—and it’s so much more than just a beautiful spot on the lake. Lakeside has been part of Hanna’s life for over 30 years. She’s been spending summers here since she was a kid, and for the last 10 years, she’s been teaching yoga within the community. Early in our relationship, Hanna introduced Nick to this special place, and it didn’t take long for him to fall in love with it too. He’s now been teaching yoga here for over six years. Over time, Lakeside has become our summer retreat—our peaceful escape to recharge, reconnect, and share what we love with others. It holds countless memories for us, from morning bike rides and lakeside sunsets to meaningful connections with the people here. It truly feels like a second home. So when we thought about where we wanted to say “I do,” the answer was clear. We’re so excited to share this place with you—and hope you feel the same calm, joy, and charm that we do when we're here.
