Sayulita is pretty hot during October. It will be 70 degrees in the early morning and transition to low to mid 80s throughout the day. Please pack accordingly!
Yes, there will be Tequila in all forms: straight, on the rocks, shots, cocktails, and out the bottle! For the guests that don't know this, most of the tequila produced in the world is made in Jalisco, Mexico from the agave plant. If you don't care for tequila, we will also have mezcal, whiskey, and plenty of chelas!
We HIGHLY recommend our guests to stay in Sayulita from Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday if possible! The road to get to Sayulita from Puerto Vallarta is literally a jungle! It would be hard to find a ride after the wedding to get back to your accommodation in Puerto Vallarta. Ubers are infrequent at night so you would have to pre-arrange transportation with a Sayulita transport service or your hotel, and speaking from experience this can be upwards of $100 for 2 people. Puerto Vallarta is great and we love it but if you're staying there the night of the wedding, you will be in charge of coordinating your own ride back.
Your desire for good tequila. Sunscreen. Flip flops of sorts. Money to exchange into pesos. Summer clothes, swimwear, all the things you need for a good vacation. Also, don't overpack if you have intentions of bringing home some tequila.
From experience, the best way to get the best exchange rate for pesos is by going directly to the ATM boxes. You insert your debit card, and request Mexican pesos. The ATM will give you an exchange rate and a fee of $5-$8 regardless of the amount that you withdraw. Most places take Visa and Mastercard, some places take AMEX and if you have a travel card these usually will give you the best market rate. Also, if you are staying at a hotel you can check their rate at the lobby, just present your passport. I do not advise exchanging a large amount of money at the airport.
We will have a buffet style dinner at the reception with traditional Mexican options, seafood, and an American option. During the late night, we will have a taquero preparing tacos al pastor and we will also have desserts.
Yes, each adult (21+) can bring back 1L of tequila tax-free through US customs. When you arrive back in the US, you will be asked if you have anything to declare including alcohol. Don Julio 1942 is $130 in most grocery stores, in Puerto Vallarta you will be able to find the bottle for half the price. Is the alcohol safe? Yes, the reason that the tequila is cheaper is because it is a product of Mexico. We have found the best Tequila prices to be at Walmart and Costco. Although a few dollars more expensive, you can go to Vinos América - Beer, Wine & Spirits in Old Town Puerto Vallarta for the "good stuff" if you want to find top shelf tequila at a good price. "La playa" is also well priced and there are several locations in Puerto Vallarta.
Disclaimer: If you have a question about your safety, this a tourist friendly destination. People refer to Sayulita Nayarit as a pueblo magico (magical town), our wedding is the weekend of Dia De Los Muertos. The town will be very decorated, use the movie Coco as a reference. If you're still having reservations about having a Mexican cultural experience, we will not be offended if you cannot attend.
