Just up the road from The Red Lion & Sun is the absolute cosiest pub called The Wrestlers. Always packed with locals, it has some of the most reasonably priced drinks around while still offering a warm, fireside escape from the cold English climate. The Wrestlers is a true pub experience!
Calling all architecture buffs - you can't miss the Barbican Centre. This estate is an icon of brutalist architecture and took decades to complete. We've done the guided tour, and it was SO worth it - we learned so much about the history of brutalism and how the Barbican is enjoyed and loved today. Offering art, music, and cinema, there's always events going on here too.
Love experiencing nature and looking for something off the beaten tourism path? The New Forest National Park is one of our favourite places to go for a break from the city. The forest is a very unique area, with sparse and low foliage, populated by semi-feral horses who just hang out on the side of the road. See this page for tips on how to use trains to get to The New Forest from London: https://www.thenewforest.co.uk/visitor-info/travel-around-the-new-forest/public-transport/
