It's 2010. Jeremy leaves sunny California for New York City to attend New York University. From Rhode Island, the smallest state in the country, Newlin ventures into the desert for Arizona State University. Now, how does this work out? It came down to one fateful conversation Newlin had with her friend (and now bridesmaid) Hayden. Newlin always dreamed of one day living in New York City, and knowing this plan, Hayden had an idea. Hayden's boyfriend (and now husband), Austin, had a high school friend living in New York City. It seemed Jeremy and Newlin might get along - they were both journalism majors and editors-in-chief of campus publications, and each had big plans for their futures. Whatever it was, Newlin was intrigued. In December 2013, Newlin made an excuse to visit her cousin Zoe who was going to school at NYU. It *just so happened* Jeremy was around that weekend and free to meet. Despite the blizzard during the middle of the date...it was perfect. Both recall an almost immediate feeling that this was something special. Fast forward seven and a half years, a few career changes, countless subway rides, dozens of museum trips, and plenty of pizza. They fell in love and built a life together in a cramped but charming three-floor walk up in Brooklyn. And Jeremy decided, on a perfect summer day in June 2019, to get down on one knee as they walked along the Brooklyn Promenade, with a view of the city in the background and their best friends secretly snapping pictures. Of course, Newlin said yes. Now, after a year that no one could have expected, with COVID-19 and wildfires nearly getting in the way of what ended up being a perfect small ceremony in California with their immediate family, Newlin and Jeremy are excited to finally celebrate the wedding they've been planning now for two years with you in Maine.
