In June of 2022, Melissa matched with Jack on Bumble. Her first message to him was a link to a PowerPoint she had made titled “Why You Should Date Me.” Jack was dubious clicking on the link, and ignored it at first. After all, who would send a random link to a sketchy PowerPoint? After he looked at the PowerPoint, he still thought it was too good to true – after all, how was someone like Melissa interested in Jack? After texting for a few weeks, Jack learned why! They had a lot in common and decided to meet up for a quick first date over lunch. The plan was to grab some sandwiches or a salad and learn a bit more about each other. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a mix up, and they each ended up going to different restaurants! After correcting that small mistake, they got their sandwiches and salad… and then went to a park to talk some more and look at the James River… and then went to a bakery to snack on some pie together. Five hours had passed. It was getting close to dinner, and even though they didn’t really want to, they both had to wrap things up. Needless to say, this was the start of something special, and this was just the first of many more dates and adventures that Jack and Melissa shared. Since then, the two have grown closer over their shared love of traveling, board games, film, and food. They have traveled the world, adopted two kittens, cooked a banquet in honor of Robert Burns, and played way too many games of Rummikub.
