We are a true millennial couple. Nicole's best friends (and her Matron of Honor and Bridesmaid), convinced her to download the dating app, Bumble, on Memorial Day Weekend 2018. Ten days later, Nicole swiped right on James's profile and it was an instant match! She slyly gave James her number a couple of days later. With the start of summer trips, it took them another week and a half before they met in person at Bottle Logic in Anaheim after work. They had such easy going conversation that they completely missed dinner. By the time they closed their tab around 8:45 PM, the only eateries open were the Kaiser Permanente cafeteria on La Palma (which surprisingly had 4 stars on Google) and In-N-Out. James felt bad for taking her there for their first hang out, but Nicole did not mind at all. They are each others first and only Bumble dates.
With the holidays approaching, Nicole wondered if and when James was going to pop the question. He had plenty of options - a work trip to Carmel, Thanksgiving, their Christmas dinner, Christmas, her 30th birthday, New Years Eve - so she had to make sure her nails were ready at any moment. The Martins planned to celebrate Christmas early with James's sister and brother-in-law in San Diego. James's sister, Alison, suggested the four of them get dressed up and go to a local bar for Christmas drinks. Just before sunset, the four of them headed out for a walk along the beach to the bar. James and Nicole stopped to watch the waves when he slowly started turning her away from the direction of the bar. Little did she know, their families were walking down the beach in the opposite direction. Once James turned her around, she finally put it all together. He got down on one knee, opened a little pink box, and she said "Yes!"
