Question

What should I know about the local currency?

Answer

The local currency is the Turkish lira (TL). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and larger shops, but smaller markets, taxis, and beach clubs often prefer cash. ● ATMs are easy to find in the airport and throughout Bodrum, and usually offer good exchange rates. ● Currency exchange offices (“Döviz”) are also common in the city center and tourist areas. ● Tip: Avoid exchanging large amounts at the airport — rates are typically better in town.
