The account of how we first met varies depending on who you ask. Scott recalls seeing Brittany on a singles panel at Liberty Church—which he’d attended for 1 month—where she announced to all that she was “hopelessly single." Brittany, after knowing Scott for 4 months, one day awoke in her tiny Brooklyn bedroom with the birds chirping outside and the promise of spring on the horizon and asked herself, “Just who is this Scott guy exactly?” (This actually happened on a dark January morning where instead of birds chirping it was FDNY performing their chainsaw test five stories below). After her morning pondering, the ever-reticent Brittany managed to avoid Scott for the next 4 months, while the ever-passive Scott avoided asking her out. Eventually, God had enough of the charade and put them together on a trip with friends to the Poconos, during which Scott froze to death talking with her on a snowy dock, made her s’mores, sacrificed his fireside heat for her warmth, and all the other perfect things a properly chivalrous man would do to woo the woman of his affection. The next week they actually started dating, which led to a Rom-Com summer in NYC. Hammocks on Governors Island, tacos in Chelsea Market, a pedicure (yes - it happened), Broadway plays, Ample Hills ice cream, dancing at the Bronx Zoo, booze cruising, comedy clubs, East Village arcading, Hudson Yards walking, and long conversations in NYC parks - these were just a few of the adventures they enjoyed. Scott even shut down the streets of Times Square so she could walk down the middle of the road unencumbered. The lights of America’s largest city were the backdrop to their romantic nights in Domino Park, Central Park, Seaport, Greenwich Village, the High Line and the waterfronts of Brooklyn & Manhattan. And so the same lights will be the backdrop to their wedding, which you’re theoretically attending if you’re reading this. And it’s going to be fun. We promise.

If you're going to save anything, save this...
