2022 Wedding Plans

Finally we're here!

While we got legally married in 2020, two years (and much uncertainty) later, we are thrilled everyone is still healthy and finally able to come together for our actual wedding ceremony and celebration. We are planning an early afternoon ceremony followed directly by a mimosa brunch reception, some afternoon fun and hangs on the gorgeous Fall City Farm, and closing out the evening with a food truck get down. We. Can't. Wait!

2020 Marriage Vows

We Eloped!

On August 8, 2020, we gathered just a few friends and family to witness an intimate exchange of marriage vows. While things looked very different than initially planned, we are so grateful that we had such a beautiful day on one of our favorite spots in the PNW: Sand Point Beach in the Olympic National Park. It was a simple ceremony followed by a mischievous race to the water between Nathania and Kelly (Nat won!) and a gorgeous day all around.

How We Met

Kelly likes to say "In Prison"

While we started with some extended (online) banter in the style of NPR's "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me" while Kelly wrapped up a work trip in Europe, it really all began on our first date. Nathania slept through her mid-week-afternoon-nap alarm* and didn't make it down to Tacoma before Kelly got off work as we had planned. We decided to meet in the middle for dinner instead and Kelly, rather confidently said "Race you!" once Nathania sent him the location. Not one to turn down a competition, Nat made it as quickly (and safety!) as possible to the restaurant, scanning the cars nervously while finding a parking spot (surprisingly not for the usual reasons a woman is nervous on a first date, like: What do we talk about? Will this be boring? Or is he a creeper?). No, Nathania found herself far more concerned about other things: Was he there yet? What kind of car does he drive?? And, most importantly: did she WIN??? (Hopefully he doesn't drive that cream-color-contrast-top Mini Cooper because that would be disappointing on several fronts)...Not seeing Kelly but not wanting to gloat just yet she headed into the restaurant. Just as she got to the door, a red pick-up truck pulled in. Looking at the driver she knew it was Kelly AND that she had WON! Nat paused at the door waiting to for Kelly to see her, looked him straight in the eye, clearly mouthed the words "YOU LOSE!" and then swished confidently into the restaurant. While Nathania beat Kelly in the first of many races, she also ended up being wrong that day: we both definitively won. *Kelly likes to give Nat a lot of flack about being able to take mid-afternoon naps during a work week, in the past two years she has witnessed MANY an afternoon nap.
