Alternative Options

If you would like to book an alternative hotel, there are plenty of accommodations in Pismo Beach and near Nipomo that fit your budget that you could look into. There are a few inexpensive motels in Nipomo, although not many to choose from. The wedding party and most guests will be staying in Pismo Beach. However, other alternative cities nearby are Santa Maria (South) and San Luis Obispo (North).

Shuttle

Shuttle Bus to Wedding

The shuttle service will be available for wedding guests. It will be leaving near the Sandcastle Hotel to St. Joseph's Catholic Church. After the wedding mass, the shuttle will take guests to the cocktail hour and reception at the Herrera Ranch Barn (5 mins drive). At the end of the night, there will be a couple shuttle drop offs near the Sandcastle hotel. *You don't have to be staying at the hotel to use the shuttle. All wedding guests can access it during pick up times. NOTE: If you are planning to take the shuttle and are not staying at the hotel, there is a parking lot by the Pismo Beach Pier to park your vehicle. Getting Around

Depending on where you decide to stay, transportation varies. Pismo Beach is a popular destination for locals and visitors & is located near bigger cities like San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria. Uber/Lyft services from Pismo Beach is available. In Nipomo, however, car ride services is limited since it is a smaller town. Luckily, both of these towns are conveniently located near the well-connected 101 freeway that can take you to almost any popular destination in the Central Coast. If you have a car or rental car, the Pacific Coast Highway is also nearby offering beautiful coastline views and coastal town stops.

San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (SBP)

This is the closest airport that offers only domestic flights, mostly small aircrafts. It is located northwest of the wedding venue. Roughly 9 miles from Pismo Beach and 22 miles from Nipomo.

Santa Barbara Airport (SBA)

The second nearest airport is SBA, southeast of the wedding venue. Includes domestic and limited international flights. It is roughly 86 miles from Pismo Beach and 75 miles from Nipomo.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

LAX is located far southeast. It is around 3 hours away (168 miles from Nipomo and 177 miles from Pismo Beach). Most international flights will land here unless you have a layover to a closer local airport. There are many rental car agencies near LAX, as well as shuttle services to the train station.

Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC)

SJC is located roughly 3 hours north of Pismo Beach (200 miles) and Nipomo (212 miles) by way of the 101. It hosts both international and domestic flights, as well as car rental services. If you opt for the more scenic route by way of the 1 (the Pacific Coast Highway) it will add at least an hour and half to your trip, but you will get some world famous sights such as Big Sur.

Planning on not driving from Los Angeles? The Pacific Surfliner offers a relaxing 5-hour train ride along the beautiful Californian Pacific Coast from Union Station to either Grover Beach (between Nipomo and Pismo Beach) or San Luis Obispo, CA - Amtrack Station. *Buy your departure and return tickets ahead of time, they sell quick for Veteran's Day weekend!

SFO is located about 35 minutes north of SJC (see above), but may offer more favorable flights.
