A 60-acre regional beach, pier and promenade. Public restrooms, sand showers, volleyball courts, children's play equipment, benches, drinking fountains and many ocean recreation opportunities are available. A parking lot is located adjacent to the Pier and at the end of Addie Street. Handicapped parking is also available. Pismo Creek can be observed with a variety of bird life by walking down Addie Street where the creek merges into the ocean.

A gem among the historic Spanish California missions, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa is must-see for history buffs, family vacationers, and California tourists of all kinds. Founded in 1772 and built on its current foundation in 1792, the still active Mission church lies at the center of modern-day downtown San Luis Obispo on a traffic-free block on Palm Street between Chorro Street and Broad Streets. Just outside the Mission lies the open community park and San Luis Creek, an area called Mission Plaza, which faces the bustling shopping and dining district of downtown and hosts many community events such as free summer Concerts in the Plaza. Enjoy a free tour of the Mission, museum and gift shop, as well as the thriving garden featuring a well, fountain and trellises. The spacious Mission Plaza and grassy slopes surrounding the creek make for great picnic grounds after your tour.

The Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove is one of only five sites in the state that has counts of over 10,000 butterflies annually. Each year thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo State Beach, a location essential to their successful migration, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of towering, majestic Eucalyptus trees flanking a riparian estuary that flows to the Pacific Ocean. The grove is easily accessible from CA State Highway 1 at the south boundary of the city limits of Pismo Beach.
