Fun Fact: The Mendenhall Glacier is the most visited glacier in the world. This is your chance to see a glacier before they all disappear! Mendenhall Glacier is 13 miles from downtown and about a ~15-20 minute drive. There are plenty of hikes in the area, and a good chance of seeing wildlife such as black bears or mountain goats. The Mendenhall Glacier is attached to the Juneau Ice field. Natalie spent nine weeks living on the Juneau Icefield in 2019, and she thought it was pretty ~cool~.
There are more miles of trails in Juneau than there are roads. Many are accessible from downtown, such as the Gold Creek Flume Trail, Mt. Roberts, Perseverance Trail, and the Christopher Trail which Natalie helped build (no relation to the groom). Bring a raincoat!
If you are looking to get out of the rain and still experience Alaska, the State Museum is the perfect stop. Admission is only $14 and is the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon!

Great brewery in Auke Bay (20 minute drive from downtown) with an awesone view of the harbor. Forbidden Peak is located near where our ceremony will be held at Auke Rec. We went here after a whale watching tour this past summer.
The Goldbelt Tram is in downtown Juneau and brings you 1,800 feet up Mt. Roberts. At the top there are trails, a nature center, shops, and a restaurant. I recommend the tram on a clear day to access the hiking trails at the top. If you go on a cloudy day, you will see more clouds! There is a trail that leads you to the tram from Basin Road, look up "Mount Roberts Trail" to find. Expect 2 miles of switchbacks in the forest. The tram is $60 for adults.
