Money: Colombia uses pesos as their main currency. The exchange varies but expect $3,400 COP for $1 USD. You can use debit and credit cards in most places. Cellphones: Check with you cell phone provider as you may be able to pay a small fee to use your data abroad. Safety: Medellin is a very safe place and is a tourist-friendly city however with that being said, always be aware of your surroundings.

The easiest airport to fly into is to Jose Maria Cordova Airport. It's located in Rionegro which is about a 45 minute drive to Medellin.

The airport is about 45 minutes away from the city. You have a number of options. White Taxi: Can be found right outside the airport. Cost $70,000 COP ($23 USD). Bus: The bus goes to the Mall of San Diego where you can take a taxi. Cost $9,000 COP ($3 USD). Shuttle: Some hotels provide shuttle service from the airport. Be sure to check with them!
