By far my favorite place to shop! They sell excellent hiking and climbing gear, but also can be a great place to buy mementos of your time in Keene. Be sure to go upstairs and check out the sale section!
This is my weekly mountain hike, everyone that knows me knows this is my favorite! Short, steep, but awesome views. If you find yourself coming into town early, I highly recommend it! PLEASE NOTE: this trail begins on private property, and the landowner states that the trail is closed Friday 4pm-Monday 7am. Please make sure to follow the rules.
Our first Valentine's Day date living in Keene! We also ate here when I finished my 46er on Big Slide back in July of 2024. This is our go to "special occasion" restaurant! I'm obsessed with the Bananas Foster cake, it's just the best cake ever. Feel free to surprise the bride with a slice. Or five. (just kidding, we have wedding cake)
This mountain is short & steep, 0.7 to the summit from the parking lot. I personally enjoy Owl's Head better, but Big Crow is worth checking out if you want to hike on Sunday before heading home (since Owl's Head is closed then). Pro tip: the top of the road is a "no maintenance road" and can be kind of sketchy to drive on, even though it's for a short duration. I don't recommend going here without an SUV.
Now this is a great hike for people who want a WONDERFUL view with minimal effort! Only 1.5 miles and only moderately steep at times, this trail is in excellent condition as it was specifically designed to be sustainable (at the cost of a million dollars a mile, so I've heard). Or if you don't want to hike, you can go to the same parking lot and ride the epic Cliffside Coaster! (you'll have to buy a ticket).
Lake Placid is a super tourist town with something for everyone! Shopping, food, baked goods, etc. Literally everything is there. Main street is easiest explored by parking at the "pay for parking" lot and walking around.
