Flight
Out-of-town guests who aren’t in driving distance can either (1) fly into Chicago and then take the South Shore Line train or Coach bus into South Bend or (2) fly directly into South Bend International Airport. Flights directly into South Bend can be more expensive, but if you live in or near a city that is served by Allegiant you’re in luck — their direct flights to South Bend are generally more affordable.
Travel Note
Whole house (or private room) rentals in South Bend are a wonderful, affordable option for lodging. As opposed to a hotel, you will have all the amenities of a home such as kitchen and shared living spaces, and the price is often more affordable. We've curated a list of several AirBnBs that would work well for large groups reserving together (families or a bunch of friends), as well as some smaller AirBnBs that would work better for an individual or couple.
Train
The South Shore Line provides service from Millennium Station in Chicago to the South Bend Airport for $14.25 one-way. The airport is a short drive (15 minutes) to Notre Dame or downtown South Bend.
Hotel
If you're looking for a hotel, we recommend you book here since we've already reserved a room block and secured a group rate. This hotel was specifically chosen because it was as close as we could get to the reception venue -- plus, you'll have the perk of being in the same place with other guests when coordinating travel! We have 20 King Rooms and 5 Double Queens for a rate of $109/night, but make sure to book before August 10th! You can follow the link and use the code, or call to reserve and they can look up the room block by the last names (Widhalm-Munsen).

Train
Amtrak is another great way for our out-of-town guests to get to the wedding. Simply take an Amtrak route that goes into Chicago (aka Southwest Chief for Missouri folks or Empire Builder from Minnesota) and then either rent a car or take the South Shore Line train from Chicago to South Bend.
