Big City Pickle - Fulton Market
Where to begin! This place is a dream come true. Hidden inside a pickle ball club (trust me, ok, trust me), The Garden at Big City Pickle is an attraction that may need an entire day of its own to truly experience. With fun games like corn hole, giant beer pong, and two mechanical bulls, alongside a big outdoor movie screen, there is so much to keep you busy and making memories here! They also have multiple bars on site and serve up classic cocktails and beers, along with all kinds of refreshments to keep the fun going! Blind Barber
As a barber shop by day and cocktail lounge by night, Blind Barber might just be the one-stop-shop for the gentlemen joining the festivities. Even curating their own hair product line (fittingly named “Blind Barber”) to go along with their expertly curated bar menu, this *hidden* gem is worth a visit (the back door to the bar is unmarked & very secretive!). Here, in the front area, they’ll serve fire fades, clean lineups, and luxury products. In the back, you’ll find them serving up something else: signature cocktails like the “Batman” and the “White Ferrari”, as well as seasonal cocktails like “Girl Dinner”. With beautiful architecture inside and outside of the barbershop/bar that gives a nod to classic Chicago history & design, there’s almost no reason to *not* go to Blind Barber! Would this even be our list of there wasn’t an ice cream shop listed as one of the top choices? We hardly think so. Especially with Bombobar, you are in for a special treat that can rarely be found in Chicago in the Fulton Market, and we know you’ll leave wondering, “When can we come back?”! Their bombolonis are hole-less, fluffy Italian donuts, and with the option to add some decadent house-made gelato inside like an ice cream-sandwich-donut (which they call “bombolato”)… need we say more? They even have creative and classic gelato flavors like charcoal Oreo and cannoli. Seriously, if you’re looking to get something sweet, or get some ice cream to cool off on the hot July weekend, make this your first stop! Costera Cocina Tulum
This modern Mexican restaurant & lounge is the ultimate Tulum dining experience. Their atmosphere explores the two sides of the jungle: the zen, sun-soaked coast, and the vibrant nightlife of the deep jungle, mysterious & ethereal. With stone walkways and warm, delicately soft lighting, this tropical paradise is hidden, but worth it. Their menu offers classic fine dining like steaks and seafood, with a long and tasty selection of tacos. Topping it all of is their dessert menu with carefully curated dishes like Mezcal tres leches cake and tangerine flan. Reservations are highly recommended as they also host special events, especially around the holidays (be aware: although we don’t know how strongly they enforce it, there is also a dress code listed on their website)! Enjoy a very airy, open vibe in this beautifully crafted market cafe that has the coffee concoctions to match. Swing on the cute vine accented swings by the bar, or cozy up next to the big windows to enjoy the city outside. If you’re looking for a place to start your morning right or stop for a great midday bite and drink, this is the spot! Gin Alley
One block north and a few blocks east from the venue, there is a hidden corner of the Fulton Market that is truly underrated. The Gin Alley holds not only great restaurants and shopping boutiques within it’s tucked-away-turns, but also some very detailed painted murals and cute areas to spend time enjoying the city (while not being in the whirlwind of the main streets). There’s everything from Italian at Trivoli Tavern to BBQ at Green Street Smoked Meats concealed within the Alley, and you might want to even stop for pizza & a dessert taco (no, that’s not a typo!) at Parlor Pizza Bar while you’re downtown! Levain Bakery – West Loop, Chicago
This bakery puts all its competitors (*cough cough*, Crumbl) to shame. With gigantic 6 oz cookies and rich, seasonal flavors and year round staples alike, there is a cookie for everyone at Levian. Not only do they bake fresh to order and offer same day pickup & delivery, but they have monthly cookie subscriptions as well (dangerous, we know!). All of this was an accident, as they started baking mostly French breads and pastries. All it took was one mega-famous cookie recipe to change their trajectory! They’ve maintained that at home, baked-by-mom cookie feeling while being in the big city. Inside Levian, along with amazingly sweet smells, you’ll find an open, light, welcoming neighborhood staple that has been around for over 25 years, and is worth the visit! This seventh floor rooftop bar located within the Emily Hotel is a treasure worth unearthing. With exciting experience enhancers like weekend DJ sets from The Soul Authority, this is *the* place to make some seriously fun memories. Their food is just as desirable, with mouthwatering dishes like Barbacoa Yuca Fries and Torta Sliders. Though the bites & beverages menus are more compact in choices, their impact is big & bold. From Agave Flights to cocktails of the month (like the October drink Mango Muerto, which came with a chamoy syringe), there is truly no holds barred when it comes to a good time at Selva. This immersive art exhibit is where curiosity is king. Having been ourselves, we always look for chances to go back as they are always rotating their extremely artistic and mind bending exhibits to keep you wanting more.
